Treasures of American and English Painting and Decorative Arts
from the Julian Wood Glass Jr. Collection
By William Keyse Rudolph and Alexandra Alevizatos Kirtley
Julian Wood Glass Jr. (1910-1992), a collector of subtle and eclectic taste, believed in living with fine art. Over decades he furnished his homes - especially his eighteenth-century ancestral Glen Burnie Historic House - with works of both artistic importance and personal meaning. This volume reveals for the first time more than 145 outstanding examples of American and English painting and decorative arts that are included in the Julian Wood Glass Jr. Collection. The collection - along with the Glen Burnie Historic House and surrounding six acres of gardens - are part of the Museum of the Shenandoah complex in Winchester, Virginia. With the expertly written descriptions of the collection by the authors, and the numerous color photographs by Ron Blunt, this significant volume is a work of art in itself.
